robin's plantain

robin's plantain (Erigeron pulchellus)
native, sometimes considered a weed
photographed in may

this sweet daisy-esque wildflower is very similar to a number of other daisy-esque wildflowers. it's sometimes called "fleabane," a name it shares with a bunch of other flowers, but it doesn't have any insect-repelling powers at all. this one is attractive to small pollinators, and seems to be recommended for native pollinator gardens. it spreads well and can be used as a groundcover plant. it likes full sun and a bit of shade; these ones are clustered at the base of an oak tree.

robin's plantain blooms in may and june!
